In the editor’s note of the new issue of HCS-Manguinhos, André Felipe Cândido da Silva and Marcos Cueto highlight the positive results achieved by the journal, despite the turbulent waters of Brazilian politics.
This year, the journal reduced its lag time between manuscript receipt and approval, and intensified its internationalization and use of digital tools.
According to the editors, such accomplishments are particularly satisfying considering that Brazil is going through fiscal adjustment policies that threatens academic publications.
“The proposed high school education reform, to be enacted under a so-called provisional measure and without any discussion among the parties of interest, signals the authoritarian leanings of the current administration,” says the letter.
