As in previous sessions, this ESS is structured in four key-note lectures and a research workshop.<\/p>\n<p>The keynote lectures will cover areas such as sexual practices, the language of physiology, visual representations and feminist definitions of health expertise.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Confirmed speakers include<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Delphine Gardey (University of Geneva)<\/li>\n<li>Agata Ignaciuk (University of Warsaw)<\/li>\n<li>Barbara Orland (University of Basel)<\/li>\n<li>Mar\u00eda Jes\u00fas Santesmases (Institute of Philosophy, CSIC)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The workshop will be organized in three thematic paper sessions and one poster session. All contributions \u2013in both paper and poster format\u2013 will be commented by participants, lecturers and organizers of the School. Sessions and discussions will be conducted in English.<\/p>\n<p>The ESS \u00a0\u201cHandling the body, taking control: Technologies of the gendered body\u201d is open to graduate students, early career scholars, professionals, and activists concerned about past and present approaches to the gendered body and the analysis of the epistemological frameworks that feminism has developed to analyze them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Participants would be expected to address such issues as:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Expert knowledge and experiences of pregnancy and birth<\/li>\n<li>Abortion and contraceptive cultures<\/li>\n<li>Feminist activism and body technologies<\/li>\n<li>Feminist epistemologies of the body<\/li>\n<li>Gendered biopolitics<\/li>\n<li>Illness, sickness, disease<\/li>\n<li>Medical constructions of sexual difference<\/li>\n<li>Patologization and depatologization of the female body<\/li>\n<li>Sexual education and women\u2019s health knowledge<\/li>\n<li>Sexual violence, perceptions of harrassment and rape<\/li>\n<li>Sexualities, female sexuality and asexuality<\/li>\n<li>Visual and textual discourses of the gendered body<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s sexual desire and medical knowledge on female sexuality<\/li>\n<li>Women\u2019s versus medical representations of the female body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Please send proposals to discuss your research (around 300 words)\u00a0<strong>before October 30<\/strong>\u00a0to Montserrat Cabr\u00e9 and Teresa Ortiz-G\u00f3mez at:\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:10thess2019@gmail.com\">10thess2019@gmail.com<\/a><\/p>\n<p>A limited number of grants will be available for graduate students and early career researchers.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Timeline<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>October 30: Deadline for submitting proposals<\/p>\n<p>November 20: Communication of accepted proposals<\/p>\n<p>January 30: Final program announcement<\/p>\n<p>February 1: Registration Opens<\/p>\n<p>May 10: Registration Closes<\/p>\n<p>May 23: School starts<\/p>\n<p>Organized by the Catalan Society for the History of Science and the Institut Menorqu\u00ed d\u2019Estudis<\/p>\n<p>Coordinated by Montserrat Cabre\u0301 and Teresa Ortiz-Go\u0301mez.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Call for papers!
