Italian\u00a0statistician,\u00a0demographer\u00a0and\u00a0sociologist best known for the Gini coefficient &#8211; a measure of the\u00a0income inequality\u00a0in a\u00a0society.\u00a0 However, Gini was also a supporter of fascism and eugenics.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7988\" style=\"width: 293px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702016000500004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-7988\" class=\"wp-image-7988\" Latin eugenics: the Italian Committee for the Study of Population Problems and the international circulation of eugenic knowledge, 1920s-1940s<\/a>\u00a0(HCS-Manguinhos\u00a0vol.23\u00a0\u00a0supl.1\u00a0Rio de Janeiro\u00a0dez.\u00a02016)\u00a0\u00a0sheds light on the rise to international prominence of\u00a0 Corrado Gini and his appointment as the inaugural president of the Latin International Federation of Eugenic Societies in October 1935.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Luc Andr\u00e9\u00a0Berlivet (Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales, Paris)\u00a0explores the still little known investigations\u00a0carried out by Gini.\u00a0After outlining Gini\u2019s professional and political trajectory, the article focuses on the scientific expeditions launched by the Italian Committee for the Study of Population Problems between 1933 and 1940 under his rule.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a
