href=\"http:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0104-59702016000900093&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso&amp;tlng=en\" target=\"_blank\">Brazilian eugenics and its international connections: an analysis based on the controversies between Renato Kehl and Edgard Roquette-Pinto, 1920-1930<\/a>,\u00a0Vanderlei Sebasti\u00e3o de Souza (Universidade Estadual do Centro-Oeste) analyze the dialogue and exchanges between Brazilian eugenicists and their counterparts abroad.<\/p>\n<p>Renato Kehl(1889-1974) and Edgard Roquette-Pinto (1884- 1954) were prominent leaders among Brazilian eugenicists, \u00a0but their intellectual backgrounds and projects differed sharply.<\/p>\n<p>Kehl \u00a0came to be known for espousing a harsher brand of eugenics, which included his defense of radical measures such as\u00a0marriage restrictions and sterilization.<\/p>\n<p>As an anthropologist dedicated to researching the physiological constitution of Brazilian \u201cracial types,\u201d Roquette-Pinto did not recognize eugenics as a tool of racial selection or segregation.<\/p>\n<p>Read in Manguinhos:<\/p>\n<p><a
