Launching Global Health:\u00a0The Caribbean Odyssey of the Rockefeller Foundation<\/a>,\u00a0written by historian Steven Palmer (University of Windsor, Canada)<\/i>\u00a0and published in 2010 by Michigan Press\u00a0examines\u00a0the Foundation\u2019s earliest ventures in international health, including its first international mission in 1914.<\/p>\n

In 2015 the book was revised, translated into Portuguese and \u00a0launched by Fiocruz Press with\u00a0the title of\u00a0G\u00eanese da sa\u00fade global: a Funda\u00e7\u00e3o Rockefeller no Caribe e na Am\u00e9rica Latina<\/a>.<\/p>\n

<\/a><\/p>\n

The Brazilian edition features\u00a0a new chapter in which Palmer analyzes the consequences of hundreds of deaths caused by overdoses of a new vermifuge used in 1915 during the Rockefeller Foundation’s campaign for the treatment of hookworm disease in Brazil and Colombia.<\/p>\n
