October 2016<\/p>\n

The symposium “History of tropical and neglected diseases from the 19th to the 21th centuries” will be held during the\u00a025th Congress of History of Science and Technology, from 23 to 29 July 2017, \u00a0in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n

It will be organized by Isabel Amaral (Universidade Nova, Lisbon), Daniel Headrick (Roosevelt University, Chicago), Andr\u00e9 Felipe C\u00e2ndido da Silva and Jaime Larry Benchimol (Fiocruz, Rio de Janeiro).<\/p>\n

The Symposium aims to promote broader reflections about these diseases on the national and international agendas and about the role played by tropical medicine in post-World War II programs adopted either by post-colonial empires or by nations formed recently or\u00a0 long ago.<\/p>\n

Those who wish to participate in this Symposium are invited to submit abstract of a paper to be presented in one of its session until October 31, 2016. Abstracts should be in English.<\/p>\n

They must be sent to ima@fct.unl.pt<\/a> with a copy to jailabench@gmail.com<\/a>. Submtitted abstracts will be selected by the Symposium organizers in accordance with their pertinence to the Symposium\u2019s rationale and to the number of sessions still available.<\/p>\n
