A paper about the work of the Brazilian anthropologist Edgard Roquette-Pinto and his participation in the international debate that involved the field of physical anthropology and \u00a0miscegenation in the beginning of the twentieth century\u00a0opens the latest issue of HCS- Manguinhos, fully available in Scielo<\/a>.<\/p>\n

This issue<\/a> features 16 articles on topics such as medicalization and homeopathy in Latin America; the\u00a0policy decision-making process for sanitation in Brazil;\u00a0the work of \u00a0S\u00e9rgio Buarque de Holanda\u00a0and the contemporary environmental history debate; and the story\u00a0\u00a0of an ancient topographic compass on display at a science museum in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n

It also presents the dossier Humanitarism, War and Technological Innovation in Spain<\/a>, with articles exploring the role of the Red Cross. This dossier analyses\u00a0the production and circulation of technological innovations designed to alleviate the suffering of victims of war and other catastrophes.<\/p>\n

The articles of the dossier cover topics such as: the repatriation of soldiers of colonial wars; the development of medical science in Spain between 1896 and 1950; scientific communication and technological innovation in the first Red Cross, from\u00a01863 to\u00a0\u00a01876; and the role of the Spanish Red Cross in Morocco.<\/p>\n
