Unfortunately, these editors have never had a space where they could engage in an organized discussion of their common challenges. This workshop will provide that space, allowing editors from Brazil, other Latin American countries, and the United Kingdom to share their rich experiences. This dialogue about the current situation and the strategies adopted by journals will help those concerned to devise more coherent, innovative, and sustainable editorial policies.

The workshop is part of a one-year joint project, undertaken with the support of the British Academy, by the Brazilian journal História, Ciências, Saúde – Manguinhos, published by the Casa de Oswaldo Cruz/Fiocruz, and the Journal of Latin American Studies, published by Cambridge University Press. The project has developed this workshop as an opportunity for editors from various corners of Brazil, the rest of Latin America, and the United Kingdom to contribute their thoughts on current and future agendas regarding the editing, indexing, and impact of interdisciplinary journals in the fields of the human and social sciences, especially history. This association of the human and social sciences reflects the fact that in much of Latin America, history is considered a part of one of these two areas.

INFORMATION ON PARTICIPATING JOURNALS

Editors and Coordinators:
Marcos Cueto (Science editor, HCSM)
André Felipe Cândido da Silva (Science editor, HCSM)
Roberta Cardoso Cerqueira (Executive editor, HCSM)

Information and Contact:
hscience@coc.fiocruz.br
Tel: +1 (55) 21 3856-2181 | 3856-2208
Casa de Oswaldo Cruz, Fiocruz
Av.
