In the editor\u2019s note of the latest issue of HCS-Manguinhos,\u00a0\u00a0(vol.22\u00a0\u00a0supl.\u00a0Rio de Janeiro\u00a0dez.\u00a02015<\/a>), the scientific editors, Marcos Cueto and Andr\u00e9 Felipe C\u00e2ndido da Silva, reflected on the turbulent year of 2015, recalling dramatic events, such as\u00a0the disaster that has stained the landscapes of Minas Gerais and Esp\u00edrito Santo with mud and the attacks that took the lives of over 130 people in Paris.<\/p>\n

According to the editors, we may be facing new problems, but we also have new tools for political and social action. Those tools are the Internet and its power of mobilization, a topic that permeates eight articles of this issue of HCS-Manguinhos.<\/p>\n

“All these crises, both local and global, and the attempts to understand and remediate them are indicative of the complexity of the dynamics in the contemporary world. In the most diverse of contexts, traditional forms of political representation have proved limited in channeling the demands of society,” the letter says.<\/p>\n

Finally, the editors\u00a0recalled that\u00a0since 2013,\u00a0Hist\u00f3ria, Ci\u00eancias, Sa\u00fade \u2013 Manguinhos<\/em>\u00a0has had an online presence in the form of a blog in Portuguese<\/a>\u00a0 and English<\/a>\u00a0and Facebook and Twitter accounts.<\/p>\n
