Colonia Chapadmalal, Argentina, 1947.<\/p><\/div>\n<p>From September 6-12, 1978, over 3,000 delegates from various countries came together for a conference \u00a0in Alma-Ata, a city in the former Soviet Union, to discuss and approve the PHC.<\/p>\n<p>Since then, the Declaration, one of the most important documents in the history of international public health, is embeeded in the health policies of international organizations, such as the World Bank and the World Health Organization.<\/p>\n<p>This document supports\u00a0more healthcare resources to deprived areas, the recruiting of community healthcare agents, universal access to basic health services and greater emphasis on disease prevention.<\/p>\n<p>In this editor&#8217;s note, the editors also show their concern\u00a0about the drastic funding cuts to Brazilian journals traditionally supported by federal agencies.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This is an unprecedented cut, which will force journals to curtail their growth and modernization and detract from the national and international visibility we have been achieving,&#8221; says the letter.<\/p>\n<p>Despite these difficulties,\u00a0<em>Hist\u00f3ria, Ci\u00eancias, Sa\u00fade \u2013 Manguinhos<\/em>\u00a0is continuing to increase its international profile. Recently, \u00a0it was included in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.redalyc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Comit\u00e9 Cient\u00edfico Asesor del Sistema de Informaci\u00f3n Cient\u00edfica Redalyc<\/a> \u00a0an important network for scientific journals in Latin America, which is based in Mexico.
