(2023). <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scielo.br\/j\/hcsm\/a\/bn3ykTzVDvDYBhfn5jGzf6z\/?lang=en#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Socio-historical representations of a disease: a study of posters from campaigns against Hansen\u2019s disease during the second half of the twentieth century<\/a>. <i>Hist\u00f3ria, Ci\u00eancias, Sa\u00fade-manguinhos<\/i>, <i>30<\/i>, e2023066.\u00a0<br \/><label id=\"select_label\"><\/label><\/p><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.who.int\/news-room\/events\/detail\/2024\/01\/28\/default-calendar\/world-leprosy-day-2024\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">World Leprosy Day<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0is observed every year on the last Sunday of January to create awareness against the stigma attached to the disease by making the general community aware that it is a disease spread by a type of bacteria and it can be easily cured.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">To shed some light on the topic, we highlight the article\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1590\/S0104-59702023000100066en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">Socio-historical representations of disease: a study of posters from campaigns against Hansen\u2019s disease during the second half of the twentieth century<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">, published in the\u00a0<\/span><a class=\"editor-rtfLink\" href=\"https:\/\/www.scielo.br\/j\/hcsm\/i\/2023.v30\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">2023 volume<\/span><\/a><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">\u00a0of HCS-Manguinhos by Carla Lisboa Porto and Maria Cristina da C. Marques, from the Faculty of Public Health at the University of S\u00e3o Paulo (USP).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-preserver-spaces=\"true\">In the context of educational campaigns to combat Hansen\u2019s disease, the article analyses posters from the 1950s, 1960s, 1980s, and 1990s, seeking to identify the textual, visual, or graphic elements used to develop a discourse on this disease and those it affected and transformations and permanences in this discourse, as well as to verify how they became part of a narrative of institutional memory linked to public health in the state of S\u00e3o Paulo.
