September is marked by suicide prevention initiatives throughout Brazil, as part of the Yellow September campaign. To shed some light on the issue of mental health we have prepared a selection of articles on different topics related to mental health, in a historical perspective.<\/p>\n

Past responses to mental health<\/a>\u00a0This NLM exhibition explores 200 years of mental health treatment in the United States, from asylums prison-like to a more inclusive treatment.<\/p>\n

Art in mental health care<\/a>\u00a0This paper explores the experience of art at the Juliano Moreira Colony in the 1950s.<\/p>\n

Mental Health Pasts, Current Trends and Futures<\/a>\u00a0This new work offers a number of case studies from different areas of the world and across periods in time which shed light on some of the many motivations and innovations in the field of mental health.<\/p>\n

Digitised mental health care archives<\/a>\u00a0The Wellcome Trust webstise holds online material on mental health, including information about UK institutions, patient diaries, artworks and photographs.<\/p>\n
