Interactions between species have a long history and have mobilized human societies over time through the challenges and potential of these encounters. The dossier<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scielo.br\/j\/hcsm\/i\/2021.v28suppl1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"> Unbalanced reciprocities: the history of relationships between animals<\/a>\u00a0is an initiative of guest editors Regina Horta Duarte (Federal University of Minas Gerais), Gabriel Lopes (House of Oswaldo Cruz\/Fiocruz), Natascha Stefania Carvalho De Ostos (Instituto Ren\u00e9 Rachou\/Fiocruz Minas) and Nelson Aprobato Filho (University of S\u00e3o Paulo).<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-13822 size-full\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/02\/capa_28_suplemento2021_vert.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"395\" height=\"560\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This special issue abounds with birds, hippos, seals jaguars, pumas, llamas, and rabbits.
