The guest editor&#8217;s note\u00a0(<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1590\/S0104-59702021000300001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">n3, Jul-Sept 2021<\/a>) honors the historian of science Shozo Motoyama,\u00a0who died on January 26th, 2021,\u00a0at the age of 81.
