In the\u00a0book The\u00a0 Sexual Question<\/a>: A History of Prostitution in Peru, 1850s-1950s<\/a>\u00a0<\/em>Paulo Drinot, professor of Latin American History at University College London, takes on the subject of sex work and\u00a0sheds light on\u00a0topics such as\u00a0sexuality, public health, nation-building and state formation in that\u00a0country.<\/p>\n

According to the review by\u00a0<\/i>Joshua Savala, Professor at the Department of History at Rollins College, Florida, one of the most interesting chapters examines Peruvian reactions to female fashions and behavior in the 1920s, especially the notion of the modern woman that emphasized masculinizing dress and behaviors.<\/p>\n
