This historiographic review article was produced with funding from the Wellcome Trust.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_12488\" style=\"width: 204px\" class=\"wp-caption alignright\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702020000500015\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-12488\" class=\"wp-image-12488\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Tropical2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"194\" height=\"287\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-12488\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">CABRAL, Diogo de Carvalho. Rio de Janeiro: Garamond\/FAPERJ, 2014. 536pp.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><span class=\"author-name\">Jos\u00e9 Augusto\u00a0P\u00e1dua,\u00a0Professor at Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, and<span style=\"font-size: 13.3333px;\">\u00a0<\/span><\/span><span class=\"author-name\">Alessandra Izabel de\u00a0Carvalho, of Universidade Estadual de Ponta Grossa,\u00a0<\/span>organized the material on the following themes: \u201cForests;\u201d \u201cAgriculture and livestock raising;\u201d \u201cBiodiversity and extraction of flora and fauna;\u201d \u201cUrban and industrial dynamics;\u201d \u201cRegions, territories and sociodiversity;\u201d \u201cEnvironmental thinking and environmentalism&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The article concludes that there is a significant number of texts on the Atlantic Forest and the Amazon Forest, on the other we have a somewhat uncomfortable\u00a0<em>deficit<\/em>\u00a0with respect to other biomes, such as the Pampas and the Caatinga. Overall, we can see that urban and industrial themes are addressed much less frequently than rural and forest themes.
