Courtesy of the National Library of Medicine<\/p><\/div>\n<p>In recent years there has been a resurgence of museum exhibitions on the history of HIV and AIDS. In the article\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702020000300013\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Public health heritage and policy: HIV and AIDS in museums and archives<\/a>,\u00a0exhibition curator and historian of medicine\u00a0Manon S. Parry, Professor\u00a0at the VU-University, Amsterdam, calls\u00a0\u00a0into question some of the conventions of archiving and interpreting the history of the pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>In the\u00a0article,\u00a0published in the dossier\u00a0<span class=\"negrito\"><a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702020000300001\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The meaning(s) of global public health history<\/a>,\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Perry\u00a0 highlights some significant problems in the management of the material culture of the pandemic: Firstly, collections policies place limits on the kinds of objects that qualify for museum accession, and many are inadequate for addressing HIV and AIDS.
