{"id":12207,"date":"2022-02-04T16:47:33","date_gmt":"2022-02-04T19:47:33","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/?p=12207"},"modified":"2022-02-04T17:06:55","modified_gmt":"2022-02-04T20:06:55","slug":"activism-against-cancer-in-peru","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/activism-against-cancer-in-peru\/","title":{"rendered":"Activism against cancer in Peru"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\">October 23, 2020<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702020000300004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-12217\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/10\/Liga-Anticancerosa.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"283\" height=\"270\" \/><\/a>In 1922 Peruvian physician Juan Jos\u00e9 Mostajo like other Peruvian physicians at the time\u00a0 supported enrolling a broad coalition of State health agencies, physicians, and lay people in campaigns to broadcast the early signs of cancer.<\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"title\"><a href=\"https:\/\/doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702020000300004\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The Anti-Cancer League and public outreach for cancer control in Peru<\/a>\u00a0focuses on public outreach, a topic which is drawing more attention among the historiography of cancer in Latin America.<\/p>\n<p class=\"title\">Researcher Raul Necochea, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Medicine at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, analyses the rise and decline of the anti-cancer league, the first cancer control public outreach scheme in Peru.
