{"id":12128,"date":"2020-09-28T11:46:03","date_gmt":"2020-09-28T14:46:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/?p=12128"},"modified":"2020-11-04T06:48:03","modified_gmt":"2020-11-04T09:48:03","slug":"the-meanings-of-global-public-health-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/the-meanings-of-global-public-health-history\/","title":{"rendered":"The meaning(s) of global public health history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: right;\">September 2020<\/p>\n<p>The papers in\u00a0 this special issue on the history of global public health\u00a0were prepared and discussed before the tragic covid-19 pandemic.\u00a0However, their findings and discussions are relevant to the moment we are experiencing today, when Covid-19 is a challenge to the common assumptions of transnational health institutions and actors.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: right;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_issuetoc&amp;pid=0104-597020200009&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter wp-image-12129\" src=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/09\/Screen-Shot-2020-09-27-at-7.02.38-PM.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"410\" height=\"553\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">This <a href=\"https:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_issuetoc&amp;pid=0104-597020200009&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">special issue<\/a>\u00a0explores the characteristics, implications, and potentialities of the history of global health \u2013 a perspective that can be applied to different periods.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The articles in this dossier explore topics such as historical epidemiology, pubic health campaigns and programs, cross-border pandemics, the legacies of colonial medicine, and the role played by institutions such as the World Health Organization and International Labor Organization.
