It focused on inequalities and injustices in the agri-food systems.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">We highlight some articles published in HCS-Manguinhos that address the issue of food. Topics include\u00a0the eating habits\u00a0of the Baniwa people in the Amazon region, the history of nutrition in Latin America,\u00a0food regulation in S\u00e3o Paulo and Rio de Janeiro between 1889 and 1930, representations of\u00a0food and drink in Brazilian popular music and the history of coffee and sugar cane cultivation.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_10688\" style=\"width: 383px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0104-59702017000200313&amp;lng=pt&amp;tlng=pt\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-10688\" class=\"wp-image-10688 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/Food.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"373\" height=\"280\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-10688\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Foto: Vivian Mannheimer<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">For the Baniwa people, in the northwestern Amazon, there is a unity of spirit between humans and animals. In the article\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0104-59702007000500009&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso&amp;tlng=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Cosmology, environment, and health: Baniwa food myths and rituals<\/a>,\u00a0Luiza Garnelo (Fiocruz \/ Amazonia) analyzes the eating habits, myths and rites of the Baniwa people. This article was published in a special issue on the Amazon\u00a0Region (vol.14\u00a0\u00a0suppl.0\u00a0 Dec.\u00a02007).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The article\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/dx.doi.org\/10.1590\/s0104-59702017000200003\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">\u00a0\u201cFight the poisoners of the people!\u201d<\/a>\u00a0 discusses the beginnings of food regulation in S\u00e3o Paulo and Rio de Janeiro between\u00a0 1889 and 1930\u00a0(HCSM vol.24 no.2 abr.\/jun\u00a02017). Researcher\u00a0<span class=\"author-name\">S\u00f6ren\u00a0Brinkmann (<\/span>Universidad del Norte, Barranquilla, Colombia) spans the First Brazilian Republic (1889-1930) and shows that since its proclamation the issue of regulating the food trade was part of health policies.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The article \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.scielo.br\/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0104-59702015000300723&amp;lng=pt&amp;nrm=iso&amp;tlng=en\">Hunger, food and drink in Brazilian popular music: a brief overview<\/a>\u201d\u00a0reflects on how the themes of food and drinks are addressed in the so-called protest song, a \u00a0Brazilian musical genre characterized by a social criticism to military rule. Researchers\u00a0Francisco de Assis Guedes de\u00a0Vasconcelos, Mariana Perrelli\u00a0Vasconcelos and Iris Helena Guedes de\u00a0Vasconcelos\u00a0investigate some popular songs written over the years of the Brazilian military dictatorship (1964-1985).<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/investigar-en-tiempos-de-pandemia-archivos-digitales-para-la-historia-de-la-agricultura-y-el-medioambiente\/\">Investigar en tiempos de pandemia: archivos digitales para la historia de la agricultura y el medioambiente<\/a>\u00a0\u201cEn vez de ver la investigaci\u00f3n digital como una alternativa inferior a la investigaci\u00f3n hist\u00f3rica tradicional \u2014 algo para hacer \u2018mientras tanto\u2019\u2014 debemos verla como una oportunidad para explorar nuevos tipos de proyectos.\u201d Stuart McCook, profesor de historia en la Universidad de Guelph, presenta algunas colecciones digitales sobre temas que van desde la historia del cultivo del cafe y de la cana de az\u00facar hasta la biodiversidad a nivel mundial.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.revistahcsm.coc.fiocruz.br\/english\/history-and-nutrition-in-latin-america\/\">History and nutrition in Latin America<\/a>\u00a0The shift from \u2018traditional\u2019 and local diets to one based more heavily on imported and processed foods is addressed in this historiographical review.
