The Rockefeller Archive Center’s competitive research stipend program provides awards of up to $5000 for reimbursement of receipted expenses for travel and accommodation in conjunction with research conducted at the RAC. The research stipends are designed to foster, promote, and support research by serious scholars in the collections located at the Rockefeller Archive Center. Many of the collections of the Rockefeller Archive Center\u00a0are of great interest to Brazilian researchers.<\/p>\n

An independent committee reviews each application based on the applicant’s research topic and the availability of relevant material in the RAC’s collections. Awards are made to individuals. Institutions are not eligible to apply.<\/p>\n

The stipend does not support research at other institutions, and it does not provide general tuition support. Application to the research stipend program is open to U.S. citizens and citizens of foreign countries. Certain U.S. Government requirements will apply to non-U.S. citizens.<\/p>\n

The deadline for applications is now November 1st each year (applications must be received before midnight Eastern Standard Time on November 1), and awards will be announced at the end of the following February.<\/p>\n

Many of the collections of the Rockefeller Archive Center\u00a0are of great interest to Brazilian researchers.\u00a0They feature extensive records, starting in the 1910s, on the Foundation\u2019s work\u00a0on public health in Brazil, its involvement with medical and nurse\u2019s training in the country as well as the\u00a0installation of\u00a0a virus laboratory in Bel\u00e9m during the 1950s and 1960s.<\/p>\n
