Born on April 15, 1452, his interests went well beyond painting, and his areas of interest included invention, drawing, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, literature, geology, astronomy, botany, writing, history, cartography and anatomy.<\/p>\n

Leonardo started his study in the\u00a0anatomy and\u00a0he\u00a0made\u00a0hundreds of detailed drawings on anatomy.<\/sup><\/p>\n

In honor of Da Vinci, we\u00a0highlight two articles\u00a0published in HCS-Manguinhos on anatomy and drawing.<\/p>\n

Miguel Vicente Pedraz (Universidad de Le\u00f3n) explores\u00a0the book “la anathom\u00eda del hombre<\/a>” by Bernardino Monta\u00f1a de Monserrate, the first anatomy treatise to be written in Spanish.<\/p>\n

En La lectura del libro natural<\/a> Pablo Souza and Diego Hurtado,\u00a0of Universidad Nacional de San Mart\u00edn,\u00a0explore the transformations in anatomical and surgical studies within the school of medical thought in Buenos Aires in the latter half of the nineteenth century.<\/p>\n
