In a column last month, I tackled the issue of whether, and when, you should ever skip the revise-and-resubmit process. Now I’ll take up the question of how to make sense of conflicting advice from reviewers and shepherd your article successfully through publication.
It is absolutely common for three reviewers to give inconsistent feedback. Or, to put it another way that might be more clear: It’s rare to get three reviews that are consistent.
