May 2024
The first batch of articles for the 2024 volume of HCS-Manguinhos includes 16 articles on different topics.
In the first months of 2023, we implemented a continuous publication system. This system consists of the electronic publication of journal articles, individually or in small groups, as they are approved and processed internally, replacing the publication of articles by number.
The 2024 volume of HCS-Manguinhos celebrates the centenary of the Fernandes Figueira Institute, incorporated into Fiocruz more than 50 years ago. The IFF is the Fiocruz unit devoted to the health of mothers, children, and adolescents. In addition to the letter from the editors signed by Luiz Antonio Teixeira and Larissa Velasquez de Souza, researchers at IFF, our latest volume features four articles about the Institute and its work on mothers and children’s healthcare.
Besides the articles about IFF, other articles on different topics complete the HCS-Manguinhos’ first batch of articles. Among the issues, topics include aesthetic female genital surgeries in Brazil, assistance to people with diabetes in Portugal, advertising of patent medicine directed at mothers in Colombian press, the first interactive science museum in Peru, the first generation (1973-1977) of researchers trained in the Graduate Program in Sociology at the Instituto Universitário de Pesquisas do Rio de Janeiro (IUPERJ), among other articles.
