The ritualization of life and the expansion of psy cultures in Colombia: the local and the barely transnational, vol.24 supl.1 November, 2017.
The paper shows how the country’s official health system has transformed biomedical psychiatry and cognitive behavioral psychology into the dominant and hegemonic psy culture.
According to the article, both serve to foster different “religious” or “sacred” therapeutic practices that denaturalize human existential and psychological suffering.
The result is a hyper-ritualization of daily life in the country. For this reason, it argues that Freudian and Lacanian psychoanalysis occupy today a relatively marginal position in the context of psy knowledge in Colombia.
