The Brazilian Academy of Science is organizing a free international seminar on “Society and Nature – dialogue between natural and social scientists on the challenges of sustainability”. It will take place from 30 September to 1 October 2014. This unprecedented encounter aims to promoting the dialogue between social and natural scientists to discuss solutions that can conciliate sustainable economical growth and efficient strategies to reduce poverty and inequality.
Scientists from Latin America and the Caribbean will discuss questions that afflict the contemporaneous society, such as energy resources and sustainability, urban violence and poverty. The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Latin America and Caribbean division of the International Council for Science (ICSU-ROLAC) and the International Social Science Council (ISSC). The seminar is free and accessible to everyone interested on the subject. In order to attend the seminar, it is necessary to send an e-mail to socinatu@abc.org.br, with the subject “Subscription – Society and Nature”.
