Fiocruz awarded on science communication

The annual award given since 1978 by the National Committee on Science and Technology Development (CNPq in Portuguese) is destined towards projects that contribute to make science, technology and innovation available for a broad audience.

Fiocruz was awarded in the category destined for “institutions or media vehicles” on behalf of its historical role in favor of the population and dissemination of science, technology and innovation.

The award will be given in a ceremony at the Federal University of São Carlos (UFSCar) on 13-17 July.

Fiocruz

The Fundação Oswaldo Cruz (Fiocruz) is a federal institution in connection with the Health Ministry located in Rio de Janeiro city (Brazil). Created in 1900 by Oswaldo Cruz is considered the main institution on science and health technology in Latin America, and a benchmark on public health research. Across its 115 years of existence, Fiocruz has contributed in diverse ways to public health in Brazil.
