The editor of História, Ciências, Saúde – Manguinhos and two members of the journal´s staff (Jaime L. Benchimol, Roberta C. Cerqueira and Camilo Papi) examine in:
“Challenges to the publishers of humanities in scientific journalism and social networks: reflections and experiences” Educação e Pesquisa 40: 2 (2014): 347-364
Their recent experiences with tools like facebook to enhance the scope and impact of the journal. They analyze how a historical journal published in the south can contribute to the discussion of terms that might become crucial in the near future such as altimetrics (an alternative to the traditional citation indices) and succesfully become relevant beyond its national and regional borders.
