In the editor’s note of this latest issue (vol.25 no.4 Oct./Dec. 2018) science editors
They highlight that given Brazil’s critical moment in its political history, historians can help reaffirm the legitimacy of indispensable values such as the relevance of science and public health and the struggle for gender equality and the eradication of any form of discrimination.
The letter mentions the recent Global Conference on Primary Health Care held by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UNICEF at the end of October 2018 in Astana, Kazakhstan, to renew its commitment to primary health care and universal health coverage, as proposed 40 years ago by the Alma-Ata Declaration.
Finally, the editors also write about their participation in the 20-year Scielo Conference, held in the city of São Paulo, at the end of September, in which the future of scientific publications was discussed. Read the full editors note!
