Two different cultures of publication

September 2017

Staffan Müller-Wille (University of Exeter) editor of the journal History and Philosophy of the Life Sciences talked about  two different models of publications. While in Latin America, scientific journals are  usually supported by governmental agencies, in most of Europe and North America, journal publishing is dominated by big publishers.

“I think that in this part of the world, if you don’t pay anything for something, it doesn’t worth anything,” says the editor.
