Hosted by the University of Florida website, the Charles Wagley Papers Digital Collection documents anthropological field work in the cultures of Latin America, especially Guatemala and Brazil. Charles Wagley was a leading pioneer in the development of Brazilian anthropology.

Photographs from the Tapirape Project Files of Charles Wagley.

He was born in 1913 in Texas and received his doctorate from Columbia University in 1941. Charles Wagley spent months living and doing research with the Tapirape Indians. This collection contains field notes, maps, drawings, correspondence, publications, and photographs of three research projects undertaken by him  between 1937 and 1965.
