Medical Humanities Advisor – Humanities and Social Sciences
Fixed-term 6 months
The Wellcome Trust is a global charitable foundation dedicated to achieving extraordinary improvements in health. They support the brightest minds in biomedical research and the medical humanities.
Their Medical Humanities department encourages bold and intellectually rigorous research that addresses vital questions at the interface of health, disease, wellbeing and the wider humanities and social sciences. The research funded will tackle global questions on cultural and social experiences and management of disease and health over time.
They are looking for a creative, highly intelligent and self-motivated individual with a deep understanding of the medical humanities. They want someone with the ability to identify the very best research across the many academic disciplines that make up the medical humanities.
The role will include:
- contributing to the ongoing maintenance and strategic development of the Medical Humanities grants scheme
- being a source of knowledge in the field of medical humanities, both internally and externally to the Wellcome Trust
- developing relationships with the best researchers and potential researchers in the field
- being the key point of contact for the Medical Humanities grants scheme
- providing an essential link between the people we fund and departments in the Trust to facilitate mutually beneficial outcomes
- working with the Humanities and Social Sciences Manager to create development opportunities for the medical humanities both inside and outside of academia.
To apply, you should have:
- a bachelor’s degree or higher in medical humanities or a related field
- knowledge of relevant academic communities and grant funding policies and practices
- the ability to communicate at all levels.
They offer a salary of up to £40,000 per annum (depending on experience) plus excellent benefits.
