The journal Historia Crítica, published by the History Department of the Universidad de los Andes (Bogotá, Colombia), announces a call for papers for the special issue, “Listening to the Past: Music and Sound in the Historical and Social Framework”, edited by Juan Pablo Gónzalez.
This dossier seeks to highlight the importance music has had in the way people organize their existence, considering that, through music, it is possible to recognize conformation of social subjectivity, construction of opinions, creation of new visions, defiance against power, and acceptance of the status quo, among other things.
In this edition, the journal issues a call for papers to historians, anthropologists, sociologists, musicologists, and social scientists interested in analyzing music, musicians, mediations, and audiences as sources of history as a discipline.
Articles should be submitted until September 31, 2014.
