27th International Congress of History of Science and Technology

February 2024

The 27th International Congress of History of Science and Technology will be held at the University of Otago, in Dunedin, New Zealand, between June 29th and July 5th, 2025. The International Congress of History of Science and Technology, held every four years, is the world’s premier meeting for the history of science and technology. It will be held as a hybrid in-person and online event, bringing together a diverse group of the world’s leading scholars and students in the fields of history of science, technology, and medicine, as well as related disciplines. It will be the first time the Congress has been held in Australasia and only the second time in the Southern Hemisphere.

The conference theme will be Peoples, Places, Exchanges, and Circulation. Exchange and circulation involve local actors, who, in some cases, have played an essential role as go-betweens or mediators between different knowledge systems but also as mediators between producers and consumers worldwide. They particularly welcome contributions that explore the historical role of Indigenous peoples in the history of science, technology, and medicine. Overall, this theme stresses inclusive histories exploring peoples, places, exchanges, and circulation in the history of science, technology, and medicine worldwide.
