Making and doing transformations

January 2024

How, When and Why Does Science (Fail to) Correct Itself?” This is one of the open panels that will take place at the 2024 quadrennial joint meeting of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST) and the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) to be held in Amsterdam between July 16th-19th.

This panel addresses how hype and other factors encourage scientists to make erroneous or even fraudulent claims, discourage error correction, and how, when, and why scientists attempt to correct errors. Check out all the panels offered.

The 2024 quadrennial joint meeting of the European Association for the Study of Science and Technology (EASST) and the Society for Social Studies of Science (4S) invites panels, presentations, and other events that explore the role of science and technology studies in making and doing contributions to transformations in an era of grand societal challenges.

The conference theme is “Making and doing transformations.” It aims to discuss how we can become part of making and contributing to transformations through mobilizing science and technology studies (STS). It seeks to speak to many ongoing conversations in STS, ranging from speculative ethics in care to the governance of science and technology and from decolonial scholarship to innovation studies work on transitions. The deadline for abstracts is February 12th, 2024.
